Knitwear

Now it's getting colder all I can think about is jumpers, cardigans and all things knitted. I have found some of the cosiest yet chic looking jumpers and here are my top 5.

In at number 5 is this oversized cable knit sweater by Ryan Roche

Lovely number 3 is a fun patterned little number

Adam Slade Interior Textiles

http://aslade-interior-textiles.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/homepage-images180dpi-no-bottom1.jpg
Adam Slade creates digital prints to be translated into wallpapers, lamps, cushions and fabrics. They are quite dark and he uses a lot of baroque style frames in his work. I love the slightly gothic slant he puts on his prints as a lot of interiors now are floral based and quite bright.

Collezioni Trends

Collezioni is a fashion trends journal that focuses on print and fabric mainly. The issue I have been looking at focuses a lot on knitwear and previews of beach wear prints and fabric trends. They don't seem to focus on silhouette trends but they are shown within their other trend reports.

Lyndie Dourthe Works

The work by Lyndie Dourthe is quite quirky an unusual. A lot is based on the human anatomy and for some might be a bit graphic but the detail is incredible for such a small product. I feel like her work has old influence with a contemporary twist.

Sabine Reinhart

http://www.sabinereinhart.de/portfolio/flying-ducks-iphone-ipod-case/
Sabine Reinhart is a print designer and her work is created into gift and home products mainly. Her prints are digital and contemporary in style. I love how they can be translated onto just about any surface and still look quirky and contemporary.

Naughty Dog

Naughty Dog is run by a lovely lady who is a former textiles tutor of mine. She makes fun cushions of dogs mainly (hence the name) and even takes custom orders for cushions of her customers pets. I love the illustration style applique technique that she uses as it gives her products an edge.

You have got to admit, this is a must have for dog lovers!

Manish Arora

http://manisharora.com/media/catalog/product/1/9/190913_127mpw13_01.jpg
Manish Arora makes everyday clothes extraordinary by covering them in deliciously busy prints. There is no wonder that Katy Perry is a fan of his work.
http://manisharora.com/media/wysiwyg/katy_perry.jpg
He seems to get the placement and balance of his prints perfect to fill the space and catch the attention of anyone in a 5 mile radius! His clothes are not for a shy and faint hearted but for those whose ooze confidence and personality, it is perfect!

Mary Kantrantzou

http://cdni.condenast.co.uk/1280x1920/Shows/SS2014/London/R-T-W/mary_katrantzou/00120h_1280x1920.jpg
I love love love Mary Kantrantzou's prints! She plays around with scale and placement to create something that you don't expect. Her work is extremely striking (you can't keep your eyes off it) yet it's not offensive; it's actually quite feminine.

A lot of the silhouettes she uses are quite baby doll-esque and not risque in the slightest which I personally think makes the designs more fun.

Diana Beltran Herrera

http://www.dianabeltranherrera.com/uploads/1/7/6/0/17602673/6651673_orig.jpg
Carrying on with the paper artist theme, I found this lovely artist who makes mainly birds by layering up small feather shapes to create a lot of detail. There is no flat drawing media used as the detail is captured by the cut out shapes.

http://www.dianabeltranherrera.com/uploads/1/7/6/0/17602673/4477405_orig.jpg
She has even captured movement in the birds with the placement of its limbs etc. I could see a house being decorated with these birds to make it appear magical and a contrast to normal interiors.

Brian Dettmer

http://briandettmer.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Library-of-American-History-view06EM.jpg
Brian Dettmer is another paper artist that I have been looking at but he works with whole books to create 3D art pieces out of the pages of the book. His work is really innovative because he doesn't just stop there, he carries on to make that small piece of art into a larger piece with other book components.

Eloise Corr Danch

http://eloisecorrdanch.com/new%20site%20images/editorial/VogueChina2.gif

It's as if florals never go out of style and people are reinventing ways of using them in their designs. I found this gorgeous paper artist online who makes head pieces, wall decorations and general art pieces mainly based on flowers. I love the way she plays with scale to make a bigger impact.

Her work is so feminine yet so bold at the same time. I would love to see her work put into clothing too and I can't wait to see what she does next.

Dolce and Gabbana S/S 2014

The latest collection from Dolce and Gabbana is ull of beautiful prints and gold filigree to make it look mega luxurious.

Dolce and Gabbana is one of my favourite labels of all time as everything they create is classic with a quirky twist. I really got into their collections after their S/S 2011 collection which was all white; so pure yet with whole bucket load of sensuality.

WGSN

WGSN was started in 1998 as a trend forecasting site that design companies invest in to see what trends will be big in the coming seasons. They are now the world leaders in this area. They cover 18 specialist categories in their trend reports from fashion, to footwear, to interiors.

As I was trawling through WGSN I found a lovely report on the Modern Romance trend for Spring/Summer 2014. It's full of feminine shapes and prints with classic and modest silhouettes (all of my favourite elements of fashion).

WGSN Report

I then started looking at inspiration and direction on WGSN and found these gorgeous prints that are predicted to be big trends. They are calling this trend Botanical Florals.

Paper tea cup

This week its all about tea cups. This is my paper cup in progress. Theres still a lot more detail to go into it with floral patterns and gold trims, I cant wait to see it finished!

Potted plant

This is the pot I have created from card, kitchen roll and felt tip pens. I will be making bark to fill it with and placing my paper orchid plant in it too.

Paper flowers

The past two weeks I have been making paper flowers; a passion flower and orchids. I may need to invest in a more stylish vase for the passion flower!
